Arshad Nadeem Clinches Gold in Javelin Throw at Paris Olympics

Arshad Nadeem Clinches Gold in Javelin Throw at Paris Olympics

Arshad Nadeem, a javelin specialist for Pakistan, broke the previous Olympic record with a massive 92.97-meter throw to terminate the nation’s quest for a gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

On his second try, Arshad launched a 92.97-meter throw, which was sufficient to win the gold medal.

In addition, this throw broke the Olympic record held by Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway, who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

This marks Pakistan’s maiden Olympic gold medal in athletics and its first gold in any sport in the previous forty years. 32 years after the last Olympic medal, Pakistan earned one.

Pakistan’s national hockey team last won a medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, where they defeated the Netherlands 4-3 to take home the bronze.

Neeraj Chopra of India, who was defending his gold, won the silver medal with a throw of 89.45.

Anderson Peters of Grenada won the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54 meters. Recall that six out of the seven athletes the nation sent were declared ineligible for their respective competitions.
